The inaugural Global Events Congress will be hosted by The University of Queensland and held in Brisbane, Australia on September 27-29. For this year, the Congress will be held in conjunction with the Event Educators' Forum which is in its third year. This international event is an excellent opportunity to draw industry practioners and academics from a variety of fields (e.g. tourism, sport, economics, marketing, sociology, public relations, hospitality, business, management, history advertising, psychology, performing arts etc) who have an interest in the practice and research of events.
CONGRESS AND FORUM THEMES
Research notes, fully referred papers and industry case studies are called
for in any field relevant to events. In addition, papers which demonstrate
the links between events and relevant fields and disciplines are encouraged:

PUBLICATIONS & CALL FOR PAPERS
Industry Cases (1000-3000 words) reporting on current practice.
Research Notes (1000-3000 words) reporting ongoing research.
Refereed Papers (3000-5000 words) reporting completed research. Refereed
papers will be double blind reviewed.
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS
Fully Refereed Papers: No later than MAY 31, 2006
Reseach Notes and Case Studies: No later than July 3, 2006
PUBLICATION PLAN
Presentations will be published in the Conference Proceedings. In addition,
Refereed Papers and Research Notes will be considered for an extensive
special edition of the: International Journal of Event Management Research.
Papers with an educational theme will be considered for a new book entitled:
Event Management Education: Approaches to International Best Practice.
VIRTUAL ATTENDENCE
There will be the possibility for a small number of papers to be presented
virtually. This is to assist some international attendees, who find it
impossible to attend the congress in Brisbane in September, 2006. Papers
will be double blind reviewed and displayed as a hardcopy during the
conference in a poster display format. The author, title and abstract of the
paper will be printed on a poster board and a hardcopy of the paper will be
available for perusal during the congress. Virtual papers will be available
for selection for the International Journal of Event Management Research and
other congress publications.
